Gorilla Bread

Click and sniff

Gorilla Bread

1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 teaspoons cinnamon
1 stick butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 8-ounce package cream cheese
2 12-ounce cans refrigerated biscuits (10 each)
1 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Spray a bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray. Mix the sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over low heat, stirring well; set aside. Cut the cream cheese into 20 equal cubes. Press the biscuits out with your fingers and sprinkle each with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon sugar. Place a cube of cream cheese in the center of each biscuit, wrapping and sealing the dough around the cream cheese.

Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the nuts into the bottom of the bundt pan. Place half of the biscuits in the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, pour half of the melted butter mixture over the biscuits, and sprinkle on 1/2 cup of nuts. Layer the remaining biscuits on top, sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon sugar, pour the remaining butter mixture over the biscuits, and sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of nuts. Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove from the oven and cool for 5 minutes. Place a plate on top and invert.

When Our Lips Touch

When Our Lips Touch

Softly, gently, your lips touch mine, At this moment, we’re frozen in time. The love that we show to the world, A love so perfect that many aren’t showed Every second I spend with you, A million things I wish to do. To dance and sing, for the girl I’ve found, How perfect she is, to have around. All this time, I have been blinded, When I saw you that day, my eyes widened. The immaculate sight I did see, For I had been living so blatantly. Some say you can have too much of a good thing. I’ll strike them down with a bitter sting. For you are better than gold, A marvelous sight to behold. The way you prance and dance, All around me, in my stone hard stance. Most people would ask, is this love true? I, however, know, That I Love You!

and in the end... the love you take is equal to the love you make. John Lennon & Paul McCartney

French Onion Soup

French Onion Soup

Secrets to good soup are slow carmelization of onions which brings out their natural sweetness and a good beef broth homemade of course!

3 large sweet yellow onions, peeled and thinly vertically sliced Olive oil 1/4 teaspoon of sugar

2 cloves garlic, minced fine

8 cups of beef stock

1/2 cup of dry white wine

1 bay leaf

1/4 teaspoon of dry thyme

Salt and pepper

8 slices of toasted French bread

1-1/2 cups of grated Swiss Gruyere with a little grated Parmesan cheese

In a large saucepan, sauté the onions in the olive oil on medium high heat until well browned, but not burned, about 30-40 minutes (or longer). Add the sugar about 10 minutes into the process to help with the carmelization. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Add the stock, white wine, bay leaf, and thyme. Cover partially and simmer until the flavors are well blended, about 30 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Discard the bay leaf.

To serve you can either use individual oven-proof soup bowls or one large casserole dish. Ladle the soup into the bowls or casserole dish. Cover with the toast and sprinkle with cheese. Put into the broiler for 10 minutes at 350 degrees or until the cheese bubbles and is slightly browned. Serve immediately.
